Dutchy of Barossa

The Dutchy of Barossa is a small province nation on the southwest coast of the frontier ruled by the Grand Duke, Marcos De-Vallativa.

It is a former colony of the nation of Del Poda in the Middle Kingdoms.

Economy

Barossa is a farming nation with its main exports being wine, wool and grain

Vallativa has a small wizarding School/academy that is privately owned by the Wizarding Guild of Vallativa. The Dutchy recruits its war wizards from its ranks.

Military

Barossa has a modest military ever protecting its borders from the hobgoblins and lesser giants that inhabit the Goblin Hills to the north.

The Dutchy pays for the tuition of students if they dedicate 15 years of service to the Duchies armed forces.

Commoners found with the spark of magic usually accept these terms as they are unable to pay the price of admission.

Magic

Magic is not strictly forbidden in Barrosa but it is regulated and monitored heavily by both the Dutchy and the Wizard’s Guild.

No magic is permitted in public outside of licensed use or in cases of emergency.

Illegal use of magic for personal gain is punishable by death.

Politics

The dutchy is one of the nations that truly distrusts and resents elves.

They refused to lend aid to the elves 200 years ago during the second Frost War known, also known as the Orc uprising.

This root of distrusts comes from the first settlers that come from the nation of Del Poda in the Middle Kingdoms.

The Nation was controlled by powerful elves that wielded as much power as the King before the commoners revolted and expelled them from their nation.

This resentment has passed down in history by the peoples of Barrosa.
